I want to share Liana's story with you, because if anyone ever tells you they "don't have time" to get healthy, I want you to send them this.
Liana is 37. She lives in Sydney. She works as a National Visual Merchandising Manager for two women's retail brands, which means long hours, constant travel between stores, and the kind of pressure that makes most people reach for the biscuit tin at 3pm. On top of all that, she was doing it as a single mum with a little boy.
Before she found us, Liana was in a rough patch. She's lactose and gluten intolerant, but she had stopped following those dietary needs because life was just too busy. Her stomach was paying the price. Constant sluggishness. Headaches that wouldn't quit. That heavy, uncomfortable feeling that follows you from morning to night. She told me she felt absolutely terrible but convinced herself she didn't have time to worry about losing weight.
She was 99kg.
Liana signed up for the 43 Day Complete Detox and told me she couldn't believe how easy it was to build into her life. Here's a woman working full-time, raising a child on her own, managing two retail brands across the country, and she found the program easy to stick to. That tells you everything you need to know.
Her mornings became her favourite part of the day. She would get up before her son, slice up her fruit, and have a quiet 10 minutes with her breakfast before the chaos started. For lunch she would prep something the night before. A simple grilled chicken salad. Some steamed vegetables with herbs. For dinner, she loved making a Cauliflower Rice Nasi Goreng that her little boy would eat too, which meant she wasn't cooking two separate meals.
Around day five, Liana noticed something shift. The headaches stopped. The bloating eased. She was sleeping through the night for the first time in months. "I didn't realise how bad I had been feeling until I started feeling good," she told me. That line stuck with me because I hear it so often. We get so used to feeling awful that we forget what normal is supposed to feel like.
The community played a huge role for Liana. On the days when she was exhausted from work and tempted to skip the program, she would jump on the Facebook page and the other women would lift her straight back up. "Those days that you're feeling a bit low, just jump onto the page and the girls give you that extra support you need," she said.
Liana went from 99kg to between 83.7 and 84kg. That is 15kg gone. But here is the part that really gets me: she lost over 140 centimetres off her body in total. One hundred and forty centimetres. That is more than most people are tall. She told me that even on the days when the scale didn't budge, the centimetres kept dropping, and that kept her motivated.
Liana's goal is to reach 75 to 77kg, and she reckons one more round will get her there. I have absolutely no doubt about it.
Her message to anyone thinking about starting? "I was a single mum, working full-time, doing everything on my own. And being able to do the Slim by Nature program was easy. And it just makes you feel great."
If that doesn't light a fire under you, I don't know what will.
